Counted amongst top tourist attractions and religious sites of Vagamon, Thangal Para is a Muslim sacred site located on the Thangal Hill. Thronged by devotees as well as tourists in decent numbers all throughout the year, it is placed at a distance of around 5 km from the main hill town. Thangal Para is a remarkable attraction that has a big spherical rock along with the tomb of Sheikh Fariuddin, who supposedly visited this place from Afghanistan, 800 years ago. He took his last breath here and the place is dedicated to him. The legends say that the saint visited this place on horse along with his 40 followers. Just below the huge rock, there is a small Masjid (mosque). Urus festival is celebrated every year in April with great enthusiasm by a huge number of devotees when they also offer Ganjusakkar (Sarkarakanji). The place is not only a Muslim pilgrim site in Kerala but also boasts of offering some amazing views as it is surrounded by lush grasslands, thick forests and meadows. If you are a trekking enthusiast, you can climb up to the rock, an uphill task. There is white-colored painted arrow that shows the path and leads you to the massive rock. There is also an ancient cave near Thangal Para, which is worth visiting that involves little trekking.
Best time to Visit: Throughout the year except between July to September during monsoon

Blanca Lake, what an adventure! - - -
Along the way are a number of awe-inspiring #old and second #growth#trees whose #roots#dominate various sections of the #trail.
Countless switchbacks, followed by a #frozen#lake (Virgin Lake), and #steep#rocky#terrain are what you can expect to find throughout this #hike. All of this leads up to the ‘have to be seen to believe’ Blanca Lake which entails a mountainous backdrop formed from the peaks of Columbia, Monte Cristo, and Kyes #mountains.
The lake is fed by Columbia #Glacier and drains via Troublesome #Creek. Upon exiting the basin, the creek immediately drops some 1100 feet (Blanca Lake Falls), which is said to be one of the most spectacular #waterfalls in Washington.
Unfortunately, this #waterfall is not visible from the Blanca Lake trail. - 10mile round trip - 3500ft of elevation #gain
Is it worth the body soreness I’ve been experiencing? Most certainly!
