(Late) Last week in literary events:
On Tuesday, I performed some poetry at Art Bar alongside Klara du Plessis and Kit Varnam! It was my second time featuring at Art Bar, and I'm glad to have read with such great poets.
On Friday, I went to knife | fork | book to see Martha Baillie (whom I have wanted to meet for a while) and Souvankham Thammavongsa read poetry from their latest books, "Sister Language," and "Cluster," respectively; and on Saturday, I headed back to KFB to the launch of the final issue of Poetry is Dead Magazine, hosted by Julie Mannell, with readings from JC Bouchard, Nisa Malli and others, as well as a panel with the issue's essayists.
(I'm getting less frequent with my posts, but I'll get better, ahh! 😅)
No matter how high you are, always stay humble like Andreas Vogiatzakis.
As The Star’s Group CEO, he emanates so much humility and positivity, a breath of fresh air in the industry.
He welcomed us with a great smile at his office, and what ensued was probably the best interview I’ve ever had. Truly a no holds barred, fun and fulfilling conversation. We caught up on some really interesting views, but here’s what really resonated with me:
1/ People, Product, Profit
And that is the only order there is. People will always come first because in the end of the day, it's them who are going to drive results. Not machines, not IT and not the infrastructure.
2/ Be Water
Regardless the challenge, water will always find their ways around to solve it. Don't be too harsh on yourself and always be positive!
3/ Never Stop Finding Your Purpose
Our purpose change as we age, according to our needs and wants while adapting to different environments. Prioritize engaging with your passion, discipline and action. Find meaning in the things you do and people you care, and discard superficiality.
I’m excited to reveal the full interview soon which will be featured on my portal www.xaviermah.my which was recently launched.
Also, Happy Chinese New Year to everyone celebrating CNY! ❤️
