🌰Almond. Almonds are a source of melatonin and the sleep-promoting mineral magnesium, two properties that make them a great food to eat before bed.
🍗Turkey. Turkey may be a great food to eat before bed due to its high content of protein and tryptophan, both of which may induce tiredness.
🥝Kiwi. Kiwis are rich in serotonin and antioxidants, both of which may improve sleep quality when eaten before bed
🍣Fatty Fish. In one study, men who ate 300 grams of Atlantic salmon three times a week for six months fell asleep about 10 minutes faster than men who ate chicken, beef or pork
🍚White Rice. White rice may be beneficial to eat before bed due to its high glycemic index, which may promote better sleep.
🥛Milk. Another known source of tryptophan, milk has been shown to improve sleep in the elderly, especially when taken along with melatonin and paired with exercise
🍌Bananas. They contain tryptophan and are a good source of magnesium. Both of these properties may help you get a good night’s sleep
🥣Oatmeal. Similar to rice, oatmeal is high in carbs and has been reported to induce drowsiness when consumed before bed. Additionally, oats are a known source of melatonin
🍧Cottage cheese. Contains a significant amount of casein, which is a milk protein that is well known to sustain overnight muscle repair and growth when consumed before bed

Origin story... #spoileralert. Fifteen years ago my life changed when I went through some really difficult times, the fallout of which I am still dealing with today. Depending on how these new posts go I may talk about it later.. In order to combat what happened in the past, I worked on my mind and body. It was simply repetition and practice. When adversity came, I adopted and an *ignore and override* philosophy. Ignoring the problem and using grit to barrel my way through. Fifteen years later, I realized that I developed internal discipline and strength. But something is missing, ignore and override left behind an asset of myself that never truly healed or was even acknowledged through trauma.
The strength I feel in my limbs was lacking in my heart. Everyday feels like a battle. Something had to give. But there was a lesson to learn. It occurred to me, what if I applied the same discipline of learning and repetition towards healing my heart and soul? Could the same discipline I had applied to my mind and body warrant the same results for my sense of being, peace or happiness?
I came across a central breathing channel of meditation. A way to relax and calm the mind from being an engager to an observer. To let thoughts flow and observe them in a space of healing instead of judgement or backlash.
I will share this weekly but it rests on two basic things, balasana or child's pose, and breathing deeply into oneself. So deeply in fact it as though you are breathing beneath you. I did this for about 10 minutes.
Full disclosure this is a bit of an experiment for me, and weekly I will update whoever this reaches on the progress. But it is time I allow myself to heal fully, not just in body and mind but in spirit too. Practice, perspiration and repetition. 200KG (440lbs) deadlift ✅
If I get a weight to my knees you can bet your house I’m locking it out. This is hands down the best lift I’ve ever done, I set myself a target at the start of this year to deadlift 200KG by the end of the year and I’ve absolutely smashed it. Improved it by 40KG this year already and we’ve still got time to sneak 205KG in before the years out.
I came into today with my best at 190KG, hit 195KG (second vid) and then had the fuck it let’s go attitude and with a bit of cheering on from a couple of lads I got the big 200KG out (1st vid). A huge 10KG PR.
Deadlifted for the first time in my life 11 months ago and in that time I’ve probably only spent about 5/6 months training deadlift. So to think I’ve gone from hitting 3 reps on 100KG with the worst form ever to lifting 200KG in the equivalent of about 5/6 months is incredible and shows that if I’m focused and motivated I could get a huge deadlift.
New target - 226KG (500lbs) deadlift by the end of next year 😈💪🏋️♂️
