A friend shared the quote “Remember when you wanted what you currently have” with me the other day. It really resonated with me, I felt humbled and grounded in that moment. Sometimes being caught up in the “what’s next” takes away from “what’s now”. “What’s now” was at one point a “what’s next” thought. Do you ever find yourself missing out on something you have always wanted because you are too focused on the next best thing?
Saying this mantra can really help you stay grounded and bring you to that present moment, and spark more gratitude to even the littlest of things. Each moment adds up to the biggest moments of your life, it’s all part of your journey. Your journey will take you where you are supposed to be. just be present now. Show up for your journey. Love yourself and where you are at. Be grateful. #gratitude#betherenow#happiness#powerofnow#positivity#grateful#next#now#love#power#humble#focus#selflove#awareness#giverecieve#energyexchange#newmoon#highvibes#insidevoice
For those that are not already aware, my classes at @riseyogaspace will be coming to an end as the space closes at the end of January. 😥
My last classes are:
Sat 25th 9am Hatha
Tues 28th 6.30pm Hatha
Tues 28th 7.45pm Restorative
I want to take this time to first thank @jacqui_bb and Jim for all the love and hard work they put into making this space a beautiful place of peace, calm and service to the practice of yoga.
Thank you to all the other teachers - @joesharpyoga , @jaxandtonic , @gemmabaroetto , @simonaboscoloyoga and @sumyoga - you are amazing! It’s been such a pleasure to be on this team and create this community with you.
Last but not least, thank you to all the students. You have shown openness, dedication and willingness to embrace the practice and have grown so much in the short time Rise has been open. It’s been an absolute pleasure to teach here and be a part of your journey.
We close holding nothing but happy and positive memories and that is a blessing. In life only change is assured and we accept that with grace and hope.
Hopefully Rise will rise again like the Phoenix with a new space on the local area but as they say, inshallah. Watch this space.
Thank you for the good times, much love 🧘🏾♀️🧘🏽♂️✨💕🙏🏽 #yoga#yogakensalrise#kensalrise#riseyogaspace#endings#beginnings#change#love#gratitude

Celebrating 33 years of life feels pretty sweet.
This life hasn’t always been easy but it’s been beautiful nonetheless. When I look at how it could have been taken away in the blink of an eye, I’m reminded of just how grateful I am to still be here.
And I wouldn’t change a thing! I’m feeling so happy to be on the path of discovering myself. Of learning to heal, learning to love myself and then getting to spread that message to others in the world. In healing ourselves we really do heal the world.
I’m so grateful to all my friends, family and people I’ve met along this journey. I feel like my heart expands more and more each year and I’m learning that LOVE really is at the center of it all. ❤️ I hosted my first women’s self-esteem and confidence call last night and my heart feels so full and happy! 🤗
I don’t feel fear of getting older... it’s getting better and better each year 😉 Thank you all for the love! I’m wishing each of you blessings, peace and happiness 😘
What are you grateful for today? Are you too busy focused on rushing to work? Getting your kids to school? Stressed about paying a bill? Upset because your amazon package still hasn’t arrived? *If you are rushing to work...SLOW down. Be blessed you have a job to go to. *If you are exhausted getting your kids ready for school...be blessed that you have children because many people dream of your life as a mother. *If you’re stressed about your water bill going up...be grateful that you have running water. *If you are upset because your amazon shipping is late...take a moment to be thankful that you live in a world where you can simply order whatever you want and it shows up at your door!
So again, what are you GRATEFUL for this morning??? #gratitude#mindsethack#positivevibes#happiness#blessed#gratitudechallenge#higherself#innerwork#mindfulness
I don't know how you've felt about this week, but I'm glad it's almost over. To spread some happy I am going to share with you some things I love about this community.
1.) Own voices reviews - I am so happy every time I find a new reviewer. I love finding books I never would have heard of normally. If you have a favorite own voices reviewer please share them with me!
2.) The creativity this community has. - Every week there is a new stack or chllallenge floating around. I really enjoy everyone's interpretation of them!
3.) Our mutual love of books. - Need I say more?
4.) The friendships I have forged. - To everyone who has ever messaged me, or engaged with my posts, thank you. I look forward to each and every chance to discuss any topic with each and every one of you. Especially books and our pets. 🐾
I hope you all have a wonderful day and think about something you are grateful for today. 💚🌷 What are you grateful for? It doesn't have to be about the community. ✨
Every Friday at Stoic CrossFit we bring to life: Bright Spot Friday🌟🎉
An opportunity to reflect and highlight the good that has happened over the past week.
Once you start practicing this, a funny thing happens. You don’t want to get to Friday without something to mention, so you start to notice the highlights of each day, each hour, each minute.
Before you know it, expectations and entitlement take a back seat to gratitude. You start to find so many bright spots in each and every day.
We celebrate each day as it comes, grateful we got to live it. Each Friday we reflect and find joy in each other’s wins. Sharing the love feels good for all involved.
There’s a point to this post, I promise
This is my new passport holder.
Looking at it, now that it’s in my hands, I can’t help but think about the days I seriously contemplated leaving my husband and running away back home because I was so hopelessly unhappy in this country. The journey to being a British citizen has not been easy, and there were many times I wanted to quit. Now that it’s here, I just look at it and ask myself, “was it all worth it”? After all, it’s just a piece of paper... But, what a piece of paper!
But I’m also reminding myself to think about all the opportunities that will in shaa Allah come from having this “piece of paper”
I never really know if I should post about the technical/boring aspects of what it entails to be a Nigerian working towards British Citizenship. So I decided to only share the human experiences behind it. Let me know if anyone cares about the boring stuff. Maybe I’ll share

@the.holistic.psychologist The ego is the “I” identity. It’s the part of our mind that assigns meaning to who we are, who other people are, and to the world around us.
There’s nothing negative about the ego. Ego is here to protect us. It helps us make sense of what we experience in this life. A fragile or overactive ego is present to help protect from pain we have repressed.
Awaking spiritually is simply about meeting our own ego. At its core, the ego is the internalized voices of others from our youngest years.
If you start to observe your thoughts, and consistently practice this you’ll see that the ego narratives mimic the same things that came from a parent or care taker. This is your conditioning. This can be unlearned.
Stories run through the mind all day every day in cycles. They keep us trapped in the same pattern, habits, and behavior.
This might seem as though it’s negative, but to the ego this feels safe. It knows what to expect. Nothing terrifies the ego more than what’s unknown. The ego LOVES cycles. Repetitive cycles. Even if those cycles involve self betrayal.
All ego stories make everything about self. Everything is personal. Everything means something about who we are. Just observe this. Do the work to learn these stories. Practice seeing them as just that: stories. With time, your relationship to them will change. With time, you’ll learn just as you are projecting your own fear, trauma, and conditioning, so are others.
This is the pathway to deep, authentic empathy.
Every time you witness the ego, you’re expanding your own level of consciousness. The more conscious you become, the more choice you have. The more choice you have, the more access you have to your healing. Healing is simply the result of continued conscious choice.
Healing is shedding ego-centric living in favor of awareness. It’s going from defensive, survival based living to a quantum reality of possibility.
You guys know what to do! Ego work in the comments ✨
